Conclusion
EE has created a great set-top box, but with very little content to show on it. We like the multi-screen option, the 1TB memory capacity, and the mobile and tablet integration. We don’t like the initial lack of content, the inability to add extra channel packs, and the necessity to have EE mobile and broadband to get it.
It may improve over time as more content options become available, but at the moment it’s too limited to compete with the big boys."

BT added 52,000 television customers in the last quarter of 2016, to reach 1.74 million homes in the United Kingdom. With BT TV showing slow but steady growth, it was its lowest gain for six quarters.

TalkTalk continues to lose television homes

The number of homes with TalkTalk television in the United Kingdom has continued to decline, falling for the fifth successive quarter. After a strong start, giving away YouView boxes to reach a peak of 1.44 million homes, TalkTalk has been slowly losing television customers. It lost over 100,000 television homes in the course of 2016, an average loss of over 275 a day.

The EE TV set-top box has some innovative features
RépondreSupprimerEE TV comes with some innovative ways to watch your content, thanks to some features of its set-top box. If you’re viewing a show on your phone or tablet, but decide you want to watch it on the big screen, it can be ‘flicked’ onto your TV instantly.
The box comes with a remote, but can also be controlled using your phone or tablet once you’ve downloaded the EE TV app. This app also allows you to preview what’s on other channels, an innovation which might well stop channel surfing dead in its tracks.
EETV with access to two catch-up apps (although more are promised), premium movies and box sets, and 12 internet video apps.

RépondreSupprimerGetting broadband from EE also opens up the possibility of getting EE TV, a supercharged and smarter than standard Freeview service, from £5 a month - although depending on the broadband package we choose it can sometimes be cheaper.

(11-05-2018) BT lost 16,000 TV subscribers in the fourth fiscal quarter to the end of March, compared with a net gain of 14,000 for the prior year. The decline takes BT’s TV base down to 1.74 million.

"(...) Should you get EE TV?
EE TV is still largely the same service it was when it launched in 2014, and the arrival of Sky Q means many of its features aren’t as unique as they were back then. But they are still absent from many other television platforms and of course Sky Q is significantly more expensive.
Unfortunately, there’s no getting round the lack of premium content. The multiscreen and mobile viewing features are so impressive that it’s a shame they are limited to the basic array of Freeview channels. What really lets the service down is the absence of some of the more popular streaming services and the fact that you need an EE broadband subscription.
It’s also worth pointing out that you don’t actually own the box and have to give it back to the company if you choose to end your subscription, so it might be more cost-effective to purchase a PVR off the shelf and stick with your current ISP.
If you’re looking for a top-of-the-range service, then EE TV isn’t for you. Sure, you can access Sky Sports via NOW TV, but there’s no BT Sport available and Eurosport is an entirely different subscription. Similarly, Sky Cinema is available but there’s no Netflix. EE TV is also a lot of hassle for someone who isn’t already one of its broadband subscribers.
But if you’re happy with Freeview, on the fence about your next broadband provider and want a relatively cheap upgrade that lets you pause and record live TV, then you’ll struggle to find a better-value deal."
